Course Content
The Business Studies course follows the AQA specification and is designed to lay the appropriate foundation for further study in higher education and University.

AS
The Advanced Subsidiary (AS) award has a modular structure comprised of three compulsory assessment units.
Unit 1 assesses Module 1: Marketing , Accounting and Finance.
Unit 2 assesses Module 2: People and Operations Management.
Unit 3 assesses Module 3: External Influences and Objectives.

A2
Unit 1 assesses Modules 4 and 5.
Unit 5C is a Coursework Project. Students complete a project assessed by the teacher and moderated by AQA. Topics include:  Starting a Business; An Advertising Project; A SWOT analysis of a small to medium manufacturer, and a Case study of an entrepreneur.
Unit 6 assesses Module 6. External Influences and Objectives.

AS
Unit 1:                   15% of total A level marks, Written unit : 1 hour
Unit 2:                   15% of total A level marks, Written unit : 1 hour
Unit 3:                   20% of total A level marks, Written unit : 1 hour
A2
Unit 4:                   15% of total A level marks, Written unit: 1½ hours
Unit 5C:                15% of total A level marks, Coursework
Unit 6:                   20% of total A level marks, Written unit : 1½ hours

Specific Requirements
Although the student need not have completed Business Studies at GCSE level, Mathematics is required.

Extra-Curriculum Activities
Field trips in Business Studies are held in the Autumn and Spring terms.
